The engaging storyline of “Violet Is Nowhere” truly sets it apart from other titles in the Jolvix Episodes series. The novel’s plot is enthralling, and you’ll find yourself constantly turning the page to find out what happens next. So i cant really wrap my head around it when people say that the movie undid Violet's development and ruined her by having her regress.

I have to appreciate the author’s writing in depicting Violet’s mental state while in captivity – how she goes from angry and scared to melancholic, subdued and introspective – the author captures Violet’s thoughts and reactions brilliantly.

Early on in the book, we find out she has accepted a meeting with a record company as a solo act, quickly willing to drop her bandmates to get a taste of the fame she’s always craved. Justine Bateman mentioned during the film's debut at SXSW that she considers this movie to be a sort of therapy for viewers. I highly recommend this book for fans of psychological techno-thrillers with a dystopian twist and a sprinkle of spice. This is a good one - not as pulsating as the previous book but with a unique concept and good writing. Robert Bianco for USA Today has praised Brenneman's talent in the role of Violet, but has opined that she is "incredibly badly used".
